DEHRADUN: A three days conference of principals and teachers affiliated to CBSE/CISCE/state board began on Thursday at Pestle Weed College in Doon.
The Conference is being organized under the aegis of the national executive committee of Principals Progressive Schools’Association (PPSA), Uttarakhand on the theme “Global Shift In Education” for principals and “Engage, Evaluate, Extend, Explain, Explore” for teachers.
Chief minister, T S Rawat, present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony congratulated the initiation of progressive enhancement in the holistic development of principals and teachers and appealed to the fraternity to uphold the reputation of Uttarakhand as the educational hub not just in the country but across the world. Rawat said, “It is important that education makes the young employable but it is also imperative that it imparts traditional and cultural knowledge".
Meanwhile, DG, school education, Captain Alok Shekhar Tiwari emphasized that sincere efforts are being made to better the school education standards in the state and in each of the blocks of the state, model schools are being developed. “Special emphasis on skill development and vocational education is being given to make youngsters employable. Besides, for all-round development of kids, the emphasis is being given to not just mere education but also to teach them, life-skills, computer education, yoga, moral education and spiritual education”, he added.
Tiwari also appreciated the concept and theme of the conference stating that it’s a need of an hour for all the principals and teachers to streamline their methodology in reference to the international scenario. Besides which, he also appealed to the resourceful schools to supplement their efforts in bringing latest and relevant education methodologies, ranging from technology-based education to imparting the English language in government schools. Tiwari also informed that the government is working on a policy where the parents of the girl child who attain remarkable success will be honoured for the opportunities they cater to their daughters.
Meanwhile, Prem Kashyap, national president, PPSA appealed to the CM that the status of "Vishwa Guru" bestowed on Uttarakhand because of being an educational hub should be further encouraged by making policies friendly to private unaided schools, as these schools are not only the source of revenue to the various allied businesses but also known for their reputation in imparting best of the education, worldwide.
J C Pant, chairperson conference presented the keynote address and urged the young budding teachers to have a more child-centric approach and stated that the use of latest technology with the human touch should be the norm for the day.
The first day of the conference saw more than 300 enthusiastic teachers learning immaculately from the stalwarts in the field of education.
